First up is a man who definitely has the potential to be one of the most profound producers of his generation, Maleet formerly “Malito” has been involved in the hip-hop scene since 1994. Born on the Banks of the Hudson River in 1981, Maleet was marinated in a household rich with culture, and it shines through in his sound. This track is off that banging Many Moods of Maleet release, and it’s called “Come on Down”. Another reason to give this man a serious listen and track his progress. Second up is a man who is second to none. The living legend DJ Premier. This is the track he produced for that Nike Classic (Better Than I Ever Been) campaign, that featured Nas, Rakim and Kanye. The original track was produced by Rick Rubin, but it really didn’t match up to the aforementioned emcee’s over Premo’s signature sound. Ending the show is a beat by a Canei Finch, who’s produced for Maino and TI. First up is a beatmaker from Jacksonville you should all get familiar with if you haven’t already. His name is Batsauce, and he’s produced joints for Mr. Lif, Surreal, Lady Daisey and the Smile Rays to name a few. This track is called “Firecracker” and it’s off his free release Summertime, a release which Batsauce constructed entirely from the versions of Gershwin’s classic song “Summertime”. Next is the phantastic producer for the crew Phenetiks, Deto 22. This joint, “Duro” is part of his partner Roc Doogie’s “Dear Whoever” maxi-single release, which is the first taste of Roc’s upcoming LP My Mom Thinks I’m Awesome. Not all producers follow the traditional cadences and arrangements of hip hop, and a lot of times their attempt at sounding progressive actually just sounds wack to your ears. This episode features producers who know how to make it sound dope. Setting it off is my man Nasa with the instrumental to “Berserker Fury” off his latest collab album with Chicago’s Shortfuze. The album is titled Lobotomy Music, and it’s filled with beats the Uncommon Records prez calls “proggy hip hop”. Next up is a man from Definitive Jux, where Nasa engineered before starting his own label, El-P. This is another monster leak, called “Whores: The Movie”, off his album WEAREALLGOINGTOBURNINHELLMEGAMIXXX3. We wrap up this episode with a track called “The Strangest Secret”. Beat Feed Instrumentals – Episode 35

We start off this episode with a relatively unknown producer who’s definitely about to make his mark in the game. His name is Munoz, and the track is simply titled “Beat 129″. Once you download the free release this is off of Hip Hop’s Best Kept Secret, from Munoz, you will understand where I’m coming from when I big this man up. Next up is a cut off Rakaa‘s new LP Crown of Thorns. This beat is from his song “C.T.D.”, which I recently featured on IndieFeed, and was produced by DJ Babu. We end this episode ironically with a welcome. Actually “Welcome” is the name of this track, the first beat off the Chapter Seven Instrumentals release from Copperpot. Never far from his next feature on Beat Feed, being as prolific of a producer as he is, Oddisee returns with a track called “Long Beach” off his new free release West Coast Beats – Hosted by Trek Life. The release is a host of beats Oddisee produced on his trip to the west coast to produce for Trek Life‘s new album Everything Changed Nothing. Next up is a joint from a long awaited instrumental album Cocoon from veteran producer Ayatollah. This track is called “Reefer” and you can check the video for it on my website http://dirtedutch.com. Black Milk puts episode 33 in motion with his beat for the song “U ft. Ty and Kory” off his Popular Demand LP. Be on the lookout for Black Milk’s forthcoming release Album of the Year, which drops soon. From what I’ve heard so far, it sounds like this might be his illest production yet. Next up is a another classic cut from my man John Robinson aka Lil Sci and ID 4 Windz, as Scienz of Life. To me this was their hottest joint on Project Overground: The Scienz Experiment. It’s called “YIKES!” and the song features MF DOOM. Wrapping it up is another deep cut from The Anonymous. Beat Feed Instrumentals – Episode 32

This is one of the slowest episodes you’ll hear on Beat Feed, around the 80 bpm mark, but it also happens to be one of the illest production wise. Setting it off is a track that was featured inspired by the movie Black Dynamite. It’s Buckshot and Sean Price with “Can’t Fight the Feelin”, and it was produced by the young legend 9th Wonder, this time partnering with Dan the Man. Following that lava rock is another heater from Substantial, “U Were There ft. JSoul”, which was produced by DMV beatsmith Joe D.. Closing it out is the God MC, Rakim, with the beat to his single “Holy Are You”, which he put out on Ra Records last year. The beat was produced by long time Rakim collaborator Nick Wiz, and it’s definitely one of his finer pieces. Beat Feed Instrumentals – Episode 31

We set this episode of Beat Feed off with a producer who is quickly matching the prolific output of his brother Madlib, the one and only, Oh No. Although his sound is quite different from his brother’s, his beats are no less dope, as demonstrated here in Guilty Simpson‘s “Ode to the Ghetto”, which is the title track off his 2008 LP. A tough act to follow, but not if you are as capable as the one called Khrysis, from Hall of Justus. From Rapper Big Pooh‘s Sleepers LP, this is the beat for “Just Friends” a crazy joint I featured on IndieFeed a while back. Wrapping it up is the instrumental to another track on that same playlist. It’s “Little Young” from Masta Ace and Edo G, from their album Arts and Entertainment. The beat was produced by M-Phazes, an ill producer from Australia who’s been heard on many a hip hop release to date. This week’s episodes pay tribute to a producer who has put in a astonishing amount of work in the past decade, Panik of the Molemen. It’s hard to understand why this man is so under-rated, with the kind of heat he’s been pumping out of his Chi-town studio over the years. First up is a joint off the Sacrifice Instrumentals release, which is the lyric-free version of Longshot‘s album Sacrifice. It’s called “Never Go Slow” and it sounds like a high speed chase in an action flick. Following that is a beat called “A Love That’s Worth Having”, off Instrumental 8, which is a 35 track instrumental extravaganza produced entirely by Panik. Ending the episode is a banger called “Their Unforgettable Things”, off his release Panik #5 Instrumentals, which contains yet another plethera of ill production. Use the links. Beat Feed Instrumentals – Episode 28

After a much needed two week getaway, I’m back with a fresh new episode, and who better a producer to set off my return but me… Episode 28, which happens to be my favorite number, starts off with a beat I released during the 2008 election season, and Breez Evahflowin took it and quickly laid out some real powerful verses in support of a particular candidate. It spread like wildfire around the web, and we put it on our Troublemakers release Remixes, Releases, Robots!. The song was called “TM4O” and if you have half a brain you can figure out what that stands for. I’m not much into politics however, so no more politician endorsements from me ever again, and for good reason. Second up is a track I produced around the time one of my best friends, John “Stroe” Wilson died from brain cancer. I call it “Never Forget” and I recorded some verses for it and even recited the first one at his funeral in Negril Jamaica, but it was a personal tribute and at that time I was not willing to share outside of the immediate fam. The first beat of this episode is produced by a man who has worked hard to make a name for himself in the field of hip hop production, and paying his dues truly paid off.He rarely produces a beat that can not be considered a banger, or a “blap” as he likes to call it. iLLmind is his name, and the beat selected is for Moonshine’s 12″ release “Mark My Words”. Moonshine being an up coming MC to look out for, currently on Domination Recordings. Second to swing is a song I featured during my earlier years as a podcaster. We got some brand spankin’ sure-shots in this episode of Beat Feed. First off, a producer who I’ve just been put on to, and he seems to have a signature chop in his beats that I hope to hear more of in the future. His name is Kelakovski, and he’s produced two joints off Verbal Kent‘s new single Examples, including this one here called “Same”. Kent’s collab with Masta Ace and One Be Lo on this single is a must have, so go get it. The twenty-second episode fittingly showcases the production prowess of the Phenetiks’ head button pusher Deto 22. Opening up the double deuce fest is a track he produced for fellow AntFarm Affiliate, Rising Sun Quest. The song is called “Speak” and it’s off RSQ’s LP Journey Towards the Sun. The next two beats are off the collab release Deto 22 dropped with Sketch tha Cataclysm, titled The Sharing Is Caring EP.
